For the Upcoming Beantown Beatdown IV (more information can be found here), a small pick of our maps here at the SHS were nominated for this event.  They are:

After some play testing and feedback, it appears that most of the maps have struck out, with the exception of Foxtrot, which remains on the ‘High Probability of Being Included’ list for the event.  This doesn’t mean that the map will be used for sure, but it does stand a good chance of being included.  We at the SHS are honored to have a map of ours (with a good chance) attend this event.

Update:  It’s been confirmed that Foxtrot WILL be included in the event and will be used for the “12 and Under” tournament maps for the Beantown Beatdown IV.  We’ll try to see if we can find out who the winner is!

  1. Badland Bog (#1)
  2. Speckled Swamps (#2)
  3. Swolengar Summit (#3)
  4. Road to Nowhere (#4)
  5. Foxtrot (#5)

The month of may sees two maps in the Top 5 (monthly) rankings retain their spots:  Rough Climb Ahead and Nicholi’s Pocket.  In the overall map rankings, however, there is no change!  These Top 5 (Overall) maps are quickly become some of the most popular maps by those that visit the SHS.  Keep an eye out here to see if these maps lose any ground, or continue to stay strong.

Here are some long (overdue) stats for the month of April, 2008:  (Note:  Previous month ranking listed to the right of the map)

Top 5 Maps for April (2008)

  1. Road to Nowhere (n/a)
  2. Rough Climb Ahead (n/a)
  3. Hatlevig’s Touchstone (n/a)
  4. Nicholi’s Pocket (n/a)
  5. Eye of the Needle (n/a)

Top 5 OVERALL MAPS (as of April, 2008) listed here on the SHS:  (Not to be confused with the Top 10 user voted maps.)  Note:  Previous month ranking listed to the right of the map.

  1. Badlang Bog (#1)
  2. Speckled Swamps (#2)
  3. Swolengar Summit (#3)
  4. Road to Nowhere (n/a)
  5. Foxtrot (#4)

The top 5 maps for the month of April are new (not in the Top 5 from the previous week), while the Overall Top 5 has little change.  Foxtrot slips down a notch to make room for Road to Nowhere, but the top 3 maps from the previous month hang on to their spots and stay strong.

In an effort to help breathe a little ‘activity’ into the site this week, I decided that I would so some site work. Upon doing so, I discovered that I had not released two maps that have been in ‘pending’ status since the middle of April. So, I decided to go ahead and get those finished today.

I’m currently working on the stats & numbers for both April and May. I plan to have those posted this week. There are a few other maps that might surface this month, mostly from other people than myself. Keewee has a map or two that he has finished and is in the process of getting them to me, as well as Hero-X rumored of a new map that he is either currently working on or is complete. I’ll be sure to get these posted as soon as I can get them.

Our two ‘not-so-new’ maps:

False Oasis (by Hero-X) is a fairly small map that makes moving around on foot pretty difficult, due to the drastic changes in elevation. It doesn’t require any expansion sets to build. You can find this map in our 2 RotV Map Index for download. (P.S. - Note the NON-SYMMETRICAL DESIGN.)

Fendash (2F) is the last map that I had completed back in April. At the time, I was wanting to come up with something new and different that I hadn’t done before and I saw this as a map that you could use for either a ‘glyph capture’ or ‘escort’ type of game. The castle walls easily conceal your entire army, but the door way allows you the option of quick exiting into the fray. Climbing up (on foot) is tough, but going down is a breeze. This map was really more an attempt at a new concept for me, than anything else. I would curious to know how it plays. You can find this map in our 3 RotV Map Index for download.
